Caltrans hosting workshop in Redding, CA on the 2017/18 Sustainable Transportation Planning Grants

Caltrans announced the next round of the Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program.  Please visit the Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program website for application and schedule information.  Applications for this cycle will be due to Caltrans no later than 5PM on Friday, November 4th, 2016.

There are currently two grants available: Strategic Partnerships and Sustainable Communities. These grants may be used for a wide range of transportation purposes that address local and regional transportation needs and issues and should ultimately lead to the adoption, initiation and programming of transportation improvements

Caltrans District 2 will host a workshop on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. No rsvp is required.

Caltrans is holding public "Open House" workshops June 17 through July 24, 2014 throughout California to provide an opportunity for the public to get information and provide feedback on the draft California Freight Mobility Plan. The Active Transportation Program (ATP) was created to encourage increased use of active modes of transportation, such as biking and walking. The draft guidelines describe the policy, standards, criteria, and procedures for the development, adoption and management of the Active Transportation Program.

Posted 1/20/2014 NSSR writes letter of support for the UC Berkeley proposal for a "Center for Alternative Fuels and Advanced Vehicle Technology"

The University of California - Berkeley has submitted a proposal for Northern California Center for Alternative Transportation Fuels and Advanced Vehicle Technology (North CAT), and NSSR was pleased to write a letter of support for the proposed project.

Posted 11/25/2013 Town of Truckee Receives 2013 TIGER Grant Funding

On Thursday, September 5th 2013, U.S. Transportation Secretary Foxx Announced that $474 million was awarded for 52 TIGER 2013 projects in 37 states. Only three communities in California received funding, including the Town of Truckee (Nevada County) for a State Route 89 Railroad Undercrossing project. The project received $1.5 million in TIGER 2013 funds.

Posted 9/5/2013 North State Super Region members voice concerns regarding new federal transportation bill (MAP-21)

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) conducted a series of forums across the state to explain how the new federal transportation bill, known as MAP-21, will affect California and how they plan to implement the new requirements. On February 6, 2012 a forum was hosted in Redding, California and was recorded via webcast. At the meeting the North State Super Region members provided comments and voiced their concerns. North State Super Region Members sign Memorandum of Agreement!

Sixteen of the North State's Regional Transportation Planning Agency Executive Directors gathered on October 20, 2010 to solidify the parameters of their partnership. The partnership was sealed by a ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between parties. This MOA was sanctioned unanimously by each of the board's commissions of all sixteen RTPA's
