This weekend we have a collection of music events: sit and listen, stand and dance, just listen, just dance, or learn how to dance without caring what others think.

Memories of the Heart is a beautiful excuse to spend an evening being whisked away to years gone by. There’s also a child-friendly evening of song. Looking for something a little more highbrow? Take in Cecilia Concerts’ Ladom Ensemble. Be bathed in the sound of multiculturalism. Just want to dance it out? Come make the most of every moment of the remainder of the weekend at Menz & Mollyz Bar. Just dance it out. Don’t know how to swing dance? Come learn with DalKing’s Swing Society. A mini-lesson then some practice time to jump and jive! A little timid and care about what people may think about your dance moves? Go against the grain — or learn how others are doing so — with a Sunday filled with TEDx Talks on the topic. You truly never know what you’ll learn from a TEDtalk.

Go Big

DalKing’s Swing Society presents Saturday Night Dance

You know what rhymes with spring? Swing! And I realize I am majorly jumping the gun on using the S-word, but hey, global warming has given us a few days of a teaser so why not, in the spirit in the season that cannot be named, dust off those dancing shoes and try something new? On Saturday nights at 1300 Oxford St., for all of five bucks you can learn how to swing dance. The night starts with a 45-minute how-to, and then it’s party time.

NOTE: Please bring non-scuffing indoor shoes and keep scented products to a minimum.

Saturday, March 10, doors open at 6:30 p.m., evening goes until 10:30 p.m.
