Youth programs
Imagination Station: Tuesdays and Fridays through Jan. 20, gymnasium. An organized playgroup that gives children an opportunity to run around the gym, participate in a simple craft, do puzzles, use Lego blocks, read books and play dress-up. Imagination Station is a time for both parents and children to socialize and engage in some playtime. Nonresidents welcome. For ages 5 and younger, with adult. Cost: $5 per day.
A Step into Sports: 10 to 11 a.m. Thursdays through Dec. 22, Recreation Center/Fairhaven Field. The Sports Zone 101 coaches will teach the basic fundamentals of a few of their favorite sports and get some exercise in friendly competition. The class will spend time getting to know each other, learn more about the way bodies move and explore new ways to stay active. Introduced will be four core sports: dodgeball, soccer, touch football, and T-ball, to help develop children’s sensory and gross motor skills in this Mommy/Daddy and Me program. For ages 3-5. Cost: $80.
Super Soccer Stars: 10:15 to 10:55 a.m. (ages 2 to 3) or 11 to 11:45 a.m. (ages 3 to 5) Saturdays, through Dec. 17, Fairhaven Field. Soccer skills in a non-competitive, educational environment. The instructors’ philosophy is to use soccer to nurture, build self-confidence and develop teamwork in every class. They focus on using positive reinforcement and a low child-to-coach ratio to ensure that each child improves at his or her own rate while having fun. Cost: $80.
Horseback riding: Four-week sessions, Castle Neck Farm, 106 Choate St., Essex. Castle Neck Farm offers instruction in English hunt seat riding. The program emphasizes knowledge, preparation and safety. Each child will learn basic handling and grooming skills as well as focus on learning riding fundamentals. Castle Neck will provide helmets, but wear hard-sole shoes with a heel (no sneakers) and full-length pants (no shorts). To schedule a class time: 978-768-7998. For ages 6 to 12. Cost: $199.
Adult programs
Adult pickleball: Advance play (indoors) ­— 10 a.m. to noon Mondays and Wednesdays and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturdays, through Jan. 14. Instructional/open play (indoors) — 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in the gymnasium. The sport is similar to table tennis, badminton and tennis. Equipment will be provided, and all levels of experience are welcome. Cost: $3 to drop in.
Walking pass: 9:30 to 11 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Gordon College Bennett Center, 255 Grapevine Road, Wenham. Register at the Recreation Department to receive a free pass to use the Bennett Center’s indoor walking track.
Lap swimming pass: Gordon College Bennett Center, 255 Grapevine Road, Wenham. Register at the Recreation Department to receive a free pass to use the Bennett Center’s pool for open lap swimming. Locker rooms and shower facilities are available. Call the Bennett Center for exact days and times: 978-867-3737.
North Shore Boot Camp Co.: Boot camp is a combination of a cardio and core training class (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and a full-body strength and conditioning class (Mondays and Wednesdays).
