BETHLEHEM, Pa. -

Police in one Pennsylvania community hope to enlist help from the public in finding the person to stole a statue of baby Jesus taken from a nativity scene.

Around 2 a.m. Sunday, police say a woman took the statue from the nativity at the city hall in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, which is near Allentown.

The statue has since been recovered, but police want to find the person who took it.

Police Chief Mark DiLuzo has circulated surveillance images of a woman who left a note behind.

Chief DiLuzo said the note made no sense.

The female who stole the statue is described as a light skinned female, shoulder length brownish hair, approx. 120-140 lbs., wearing a knee length dark colored coat with hood, dark colored yoga type pants, dark colored flat bottom shoes, and a dark baseball cap.

She was walking a tan or gold colored medium size dog when she was at the Nativity scene at City Hall. She was operating a dark colored 2 door Saturn Ion type vehicle.

Police are asking anyone with information about the theft, or the person on the surveillance image to contact them at 610-865-7187.
