European Golden Shoe Leader Mohamed Salah urged to reject move to LaLiga giants in favour of Liverpool

Liverpool star attacker Mohamed Salah has been urged to reject the advances of a lucrative switch to Real Madrid or FC Barcelona in the off-season or he will 'live in the shadow' of Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

Salah, 25, has taken the Premier League by storm in his debut campaign with Liverpool, leading the league scoring charts and level with Lionel Messi in the race for the Golden Shoe - with 29 strikes for the season.

Only months after arriving at Anfield for £36.9 million from Serie A side AS Roma, links with the LaLiga elite clubs have begun to surface and former Egypt national team coach Hassan Shehata insists he should not leave and live in the shadow of Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

"It is honour to us when we talk about Mohamed Salah," Shehata told On Sport. "He did great job this year with Liverpool. He can either leave for Barcelona or Real Madrid, or he can stay with Liverpool.

"It is up to him, but I think he should play for the team who will always let him play. Salah is the biggest star with Liverpool, but with Real Madrid he will under the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo.

"That's what made Neymar leave Barcelona, because he wanted to be out of Lionel Messi's shadow," he added. "Salah should think very well before he leaves Liverpool and get advice from trustworthy professional people, then he will take the best decision for himself."
