New sole From the clever so-and-sos who revived the Mackintosh outerwear brand and made it into a luxury must-have comes Hancock, another reinvention of a once-lost British outerwear company. Hancock, we say without grace or favour, makes perhaps the most luxurious and stylish raincoats on the market but the brand is doing its street cred no harm with a collaboration with Converse. The Jack Purcell x Hancock Wetland trainer (above; HK$1,499 to HK$1,699) features a water-repellent galosh-inspired upper and comes in two great colours. Hancock x Converse is available from EXI.T at Hysan One, Basement, 2 Kingston Street, Causeway Bay, tel: 2881 6102.

The thrill of the Huntsman If you lucked out with some Mr Porter vouchers for Christmas, don’t waste them on homeware (seriously, why do you need a scented candle from Tom Dixon?), go straight to the Huntsman page and snap up a fancy suit. We like the grey Bondesque Prince of Wales check wool suit (above left; HK$25,507) and the essential navy slim-fit wool suit (above right; HK$25,356). Huntsman is available at

Never a dull boy British winters are pretty cold and wet so it's no surprise that clothing brands from Blighty shine at this time of year. Shining particularly bright is Jack Wills. The self-styled university outfitter scores top marks for making winter wear that is stylish, affordable and keeps you warm. If, like us, you favour the rugged outdoorsy-but-not-really look (but don't plan on leaving the warmth of home) we recommend the Lyndon trapper hat (HK$490), Pickering parka coat (HK$2,500), Newhaven shirt (HK$810) and Cashmoor skinny jeans (HK$880; all above right). We also like the cheeky chappy ensemble of Hoveton cardigan (HK$1,100), Goswick shirt (HK$750), Brackwell bow-tie (HK$370) and Broadoak socks (HK$90; all above left). The skinny jeans are the same as before. Jack Wills is at 77 Leighton Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 3105 1798.
